ACCESSIBILITY

Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 29 March 2026

Our Commitment

Bildr Labs Pty Ltd is committed to making our platform accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We believe everyone deserves equal access to tools that help them manage their owner-builder projects.

We are actively working to improve the accessibility of bildr.au and align with current best practices and standards.

Conformance Target

We are working towards conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard. WCAG 2.1 AA is referenced by the Australian Government as the benchmark for web accessibility and is consistent with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth).

Our goal is to ensure that all core functionality — including account management, AI conversations, budget review, and build planning — is usable by people who rely on assistive technologies.

What We Currently Do

  • Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements (buttons, links, form fields, modals) are reachable and operable via keyboard
  • Skip-to-content link — available on all marketing pages to bypass navigation
  • ARIA landmarks — semantic HTML and ARIA labels are used to identify page regions
  • Focus management — modals trap focus and return it on close
  • Colour contrast — primary text meets AA contrast ratios against our dark and light backgrounds
  • Dark and light modes — full theme support honouring system preferences
  • Responsive design — the platform adapts to all screen sizes from mobile (375px) to desktop
  • Error messaging — form errors are communicated with descriptive text alongside visual indicators

Known Limitations

We are aware of the following areas where accessibility can be improved, and are working on addressing them:

  • AI chat interface — live updates to the AI conversation may not always be announced by screen readers via ARIA live regions. We are working to improve real-time announcement of new messages.
  • Complex data tables — the budget view contains nested, expandable table rows that may be difficult to navigate with some screen readers. We are exploring more accessible table patterns.
  • Chart and visual content — the generation loading animation and confetti celebration are purely decorative but may be distracting for users with motion sensitivities. We plan to add a reduced-motion preference.
  • PDF and document uploads — uploaded building plans are processed as images and are not currently described with alt text for screen reader users.
  • Third-party components — Stripe checkout and payment forms are hosted by Stripe and subject to their own accessibility standards.
